What I’m Reading: Talent Is Overrated

Was Mozart just gifted? Is Seinfeld just naturally funny?
Nope. The possessed something far more valuable: understanding of deliberate practice.
In his book Talent is Overrated Geoff Colvin uses scientific research to break down the “how-tos” of practicing deliberately.
Peppered throughout are fascinating stories of those who achieved greatness, hour by hour.
How do the Great Ones become that way? Colvin says they consistently:
•    Identified best practices for mastering
      a particular skill.
•    Repeatedly drilled themselves on
those behaviors that lead to success
      which become muscle memory.
Practice does not make perfect but permanent, so practice what works … every single day.
