A Reason to Season

Did you know your spice cabinet contains a powerhouse of anti-aging ingredients? Herbs and spices are high antioxidant foods. The antioxidants in these herbs and spices combat compounds called free radicals that act like rust in our bodies and cause signs of aging.  Antioxidant rich diets result in healthier skin, healthier bones and everything in between.  The most potent antioxidant rich herbs and spices are cinnamon, oregano, rosemary, marjoram, peppermint, cloves, allspice and lemon balm.

Herbs and spices are typically used in small amounts, but when used intentionally, day after day, their contribution to our health is significant.  Make a point to include herbs and spices every time you eat.  Don’t be afraid to experiment using them in greater quantities and in combination with other herbs and spices.  Some herbs and spices even act synergistically increasing the absorption of the other.  Hint: Buy herb and spice blends to take the guess work out of which herbs and spices taste good together.
